Mugglecom's Expert Movie Reviewer Logical Craving

Harry Potter and the Scorcher's Stone

Wow, what a movie. I'm no Harry Potter expert, but I was thoroughly impressed with the plot. The movie opens up slowly, introducing the main character, Peter Parker, aka: Harry Potter. He's a kid who's being raised by his aunt and uncle. Now I'm told in the book, Peter's (Harry's) parents were killed by a Dark Lord, but that plot does not surface in the movie.

Our plot thickens when Peter (Harry) is bitten by a radioactive spider and discovers he has super natural powers. In an attempt to impress a red haired girl, Mary Jane, aka: Ginny Weasley. Peter (Harry) decides to fight in a wrestling match to win some extra money. After the fight the wrestling owner cheats our hero out of his just rewards and he had to decide between what is right and what is easy.

The antagonist in this cinematic achievement is the Green Goblin, aka: Voldemort The villain tries to persuade young Peter (Harry) to join the side of evil. Of course young Peter (Harry) refuses and destroys the Goblin (Voldemort.) I'm told in the book the Peter (Harry) destroys the Goblin (Voldemort) simply with the touch of his skin, but Hollywood felt the need to dramatize the event and had the Goblin punctured by a flying hovercraft of sorts. While the movie does take some liberties I would still recommend seeing the movie. The last scene is oddly ironic. This movie gets a 10 out of 10 from this critic.
